兩年前
指考前的那個春假,
儘管連我善良的阿嬤都快看不下去

我這個手中緊握電視遙控器的考生
我還是冒著阿嬤找我媽告狀的風險
硬是要把這部電影看完:



"Friday Night Lights"勝利之光







這並不是一個完美奪冠,實現夢想的故事
而是一個高中美式足球隊輸球的故事:
在德州一個偏僻小鎮上
所有人都把希望寄託在一群16,17歲的高中足球員身上
希望他們拿下州冠軍,為乏善可陳小鎮帶來驚奇,榮耀
他們是群孩子,也是明星球員
他們是想出外闖蕩的男兒,也是期待爸媽多點掌聲的小男孩
在這個充滿希望的球季一開始

先是明星球員整季報銷(Boobie Miles),四分衛表現不如預期
他們一路顛頗來到了決賽
面對體型壯碩許多的敵隊
上半場他們慘遭屠殺
中場休息時,

教練不講戰術
他告訴他們甚麼是足球,甚麼是完美:

Well it's real simple: You got two more quarters and that's it.

一切再簡單不過了:再兩節,比賽就結束

Now most of you have been playin' this game for ten years.

你們大部分的人都已經打了十年的球

And you got two more quarters and after that most of you will never play this game again as long as you live.

兩節比賽結束後,你們多數不會再碰球了

Now, ya'll have known me for awhile, and for a long time now you've been hearin' me talk about being perfect.

如今,你們都認識我一陣子了,這段時間以來,你們都聽過我所說的"做到完美"

Well I want you to understand somethin'.

我要你們知道:

To me, being perfect is not about that scoreboard out there.

"做到完美"對我來說跟計分板上的分數無關

It's not about winning.

跟贏球無關

It's about you and your relationship to yourself and your family and your friends.

而是跟你周遭的親朋好友有關

Being perfect is about being able to look your friends in the eye and know that you didn't let them down,

"做到完美"是你能夠與你的朋友們正眼相對,你知道你沒令他們失望

because you told them the truth.

因為你告訴他們實情

And that truth is that you did everything that you could.

而實情是你已全力以赴

There wasn't one more thing that you could've done.

Can you live in that moment, as best you can,

with clear eyes and love in your heart? With joy in your heart?

你們能不能做到?無愧於心,滿懷愛與喜悅,盡自己所能做到最好?

If you can do that gentlemen, then you're perfect.
